Hi there!
This blog will document our financial independence journey from our current corporate 9-5 jobs to financial freedom. We are looking forward to slowing down, and having the freedom to decide how we spend our days. We’ll get up without having to set an alarm (unless we want to), and work on that ever growing list of personal projects plus travel. To us, financial independence means having the time and ability to work on things that interest us, not because we need those interests to pay our bills.
Why Begin Anywhere?
We both have an uncanny ability to begin new things, even without all the answers, and iterate. However, we realize that we’ll need to keep the momentum up to reach our long term goals. And while quitting isn’t in our nature, we realize long term momentum on this journey will be difficult. So, we hope to dive into new ideas to keep us motivated, and we’ll share our path along the way. Finally, we hope this blog will keep our feet to the fire during the trying times ahead in this trek. We know they are coming (remember 2001 and 2008-2009? we do), but that’s just life, right? 🙂
As of right now, December 2019, we’re about half way to our financial independence goals. Our target date is September 2026 and we’ll be 48 and 49 years old. Saving and working to purchase a rental property are key parts of our plans for income in retirement. We also plan to renovate our current home prior to leaving our corporate jobs since we are planning to stay in the home for the foreseeable future plus we love the location. No one knows of our plans yet – except for you!
The Juicy Details of Financial Independence Journey
We aren’t sharing my or Mr BA’s names at the moment. This is so we can be more open with our story and not worry about bosses and companies finding out and ruining our plans before we are ready. However, we plan to share as much as we can. To start with, Mr BA live in a college town, have been married for over 15 years, and are both originally from the Midwest. Animals fascinate us, especially cats of any size. One of our life goals is to be good examples to the young people in our lives – especially our sweet nieces and nephews. We plan to share more along the way, plus our financial independence progress, and ups and downs of our adventures. So please stay tuned as our vision comes into focus on this wild ride.
Thanks for being a part of our exciting journey!
Ms. BA 🙂
